The photograph shows one of the flight crew that flew Conan
O'Brien (of Late Night with Conan O'Brien on NBC) around Kuwait, during his
U.S.O. tour in May, 2003. The pilot to the far right, in the photo, is CW4
Michael Knuppel of Campbellsport, Wisconsin. Parts of Conan O'Brien's U.S.O.
tour were shown on his late night show, and Mike was (very) briefly shown in 2
of the clips.
Mike Knuppel was actived with the 1-147th Aviation Battalion, Army National
Guard Unit, out of Madison, Wisconsin, in February, 2003, and has been serving
overseas in Kuwait and Iraq since March, 2003. During his service overseas, Mike
is flying a Blackhawk - UH-60 helicopter. When he's not activated, Mike works
full-time as an helicopter instructor pilot with the 832nd medical company, Army
National Guard, in West Bend, Wisconsin. He has worked there since 1986, after
completed three years of active duty service in the Army.
Mike is married to Carole Knuppel, and they have resided in Campbellsport since
1991. They have two children, Sam (age 6) and Kalyssa (age 22 months). Mike's
return date is unknown at this time, but his return is eagerly awaited by his
family!
We would like to thank the Campbellsport community for their support and prayers
for our family during this time. It is wonderful to be part of a
small, tight-knit community.

GREAT
NEWS! Mike is home safe and sound with his family. Make sure you thank him and
welcome him back when you see him. We are still praying for all the troops,
especially our local people, that are fighting for us overseas. Thanks for your
service to us and the country.
